A company that sells governance has to be able to show its own. This chapter describes the discipline OntoRamp applies to itself, at the altitude of what it is and what it produces rather than how it is run day to day. The short form is that the discipline is the product, applied to ourselves.
#Specification before build. The platform is built specification first: a change is specified, and a person with the authority to approve the specification does so, before the change is built. A specification states what the change is for, what it must do, what it must not do, and the criteria by which it will be accepted. The criteria are written before the work starts, so that acceptance is a comparison against a record rather than an opinion formed afterwards. The same discipline produced this document: its scope, its vocabulary and its boundaries were decided before a sentence of it was drafted.
#Evidence-linked acceptance. A change ships when the evidence that it meets its criteria exists, not when someone says it does. Each criterion is linked to the evidence that proves it, and a change whose evidence is missing is not done, whatever its author believes. The practice is the same one the platform applies to its customers: a reading is a computation over evidence, and so is an acceptance.
#One source for every public claim. Every figure on the OntoRamp site is drawn from a single public-claims source, and the site is checked against that source before it ships. The same source fills every figure in this document, which is why the figures here are written as named constants rather than typed numbers, and why the document cannot silently go stale while the site moves. When a floor is overtaken by the live count, the constant is refreshed in one place and every surface follows.
#Disclosure review before publication. Public surfaces, this document included, pass a disclosure review before they are published. The review has two layers: a mechanical check of the text against what may not be said, and readers whose job is to refute the draft, who read it for mechanism that should have stayed at outcome altitude, for claims the evidence does not support, and for vocabulary the first layer did not anticipate. A surface is released when both layers are clean, and a problem found by the review is resolved, not deferred.
Part III turns to the road ahead: what is complete, what is in process, and what is direction rather than commitment.
